The Chancellor's Outstanding Contribution to Women Awards recognize outstanding faculty, staff and student efforts to create a climate that encourages all women to succeed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The award recipients must demonstrate a sustained and tangible impact on the campus community.

Award Categories
Up to three awards are given. Prior nominees, who did not receive the Chancellor's Outstanding Contribution to Women Award, are encouraged to reapply.
Categories include:
- Faculty or staff (individual)
- Student (individual or organization)
- Department or organization
Examples
Efforts to demonstrate a commitment to creating an equitable campus environment might include:
Faculty or Staff (individual, department or organization)
- A record of recruitment resulting in the appointment of women.
- A program that recruits more women students than is typical for that program.
- An individual or unit that provides a special service to women students and helps retain these students.
- An academic department that promotes the professional advancement of women faculty members and encourages and supports the recognition of service responsibilities beyond that normally expected.
- A project that results in more women students entering graduate school in a special discipline.
- A project that promotes greater awareness of women’s issues within the University context.
- A project in the public schools that encourages or enables more women to enter this University.
Students (individual or organization)
- Advocacy within a department or organization that improves the climate for women.
- Advocacy for a special population of women (international students, students with children, non-traditional students, women of color).
- A student organization that provides a special service to women students and helps retain these students.
- A project that results in more women students entering graduate school in a special discipline.
- A project that promotes greater awareness of women’s issues within the University context.
How to Nominate
Students, staff and faculty are invited to submit nominations. If you know an individual, department or group that is noteworthy in advancing the status of women on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, please take the time to complete and submit your nomination packet by February 2025 via email to ccsw@unl.edu.

Students (individual or organization) or Faculty or Staff (individual, department or organization) - Your nomination letter. Please describe your nominee’s accomplishments and activities related to creating a climate at UNL that encourages women’s success. Be specific in your comments, documenting concrete actions and attitudes that illustrate the nominee’s commitment to an equitable campus environment.
- Two additional letters of support
- Additional supporting documentation may be included (optional, not required)
